This event was originally scheduled during last March but had to be cancelled as the country entered into the Covid-19 lockdown. We had hoped to have the quiz on the 23rd of October, but are very sorry to have to say it has again had to be cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.
Hopefully we can look to reschedule this event in the New Year.
We are pleased to announce that the Village Hall is re-opening in accordance with Government Guidelines : Guidance for the safe use of multi-purpose community facilities. These can be read here. Please note that they are updated from time to time by the Government as circumstances and medical advice change.
The Village Hall committee is necessarily following a cautious approach and a great deal of effort has gone into making sure the Hall is as safe as possible. If you have any doubts or queries regarding the use of the Hall under the current circumstances, please contact us for clarification.
The Village Hall is holding its Annual General Meeting at the Hall on Sunday 23rd August at 6.30pm. All are welcome to attend but please note we will be observing social distancing and ask that all attendees wear a face covering.
We are all living in extremely strange times indeed at the moment. Since the end of March, Starkholmes Village Hall has, like almost every public venue, had to close to all of our community groups to avoid the spread of Covid-19. Instantaneously our income was eliminated whilst we still have to meet our contractual financial obligations. These costs have been met in part through our own funds but also from receipt of a £500 grant awarded from the County Councils Community Leadership Fund, sponsored by Cllr Sue Burfoot. The award is gratefully received and will allow us to weather this storm until we can re-open to our community and private groups, hopefully in the near future.

The Interactive Fun Quiz Night jointly organised with Matlock Rotary and scheduled for March 27th has been cancelled due to concerns with the current Coronavirus epidemic. Apologies to all concerned – we hope to reschedule it for September.
We did it! With significant financial contributions from Derbyshire Dales District Council, Matlock Rotary and Matlock Town Council, Starkholmes Village Hall are pleased to announce that a defibrillator has been bought and installed on the external wall of the hall. It is highly visible from the main road should it be called upon in an emergency.
The Village Hall would like to acknowledge the significant financial contributions we received from Derbyshire Dales District Council, Matlock Rotary and Matlock Town Council.
We would also like to personally thank Emma Mortimer from Derbyshire Dales, Steve Flitter and Steve Wain from Matlock Town Council and Terry Fox and Peter Wigglesworth from Matlock Rotary for attending the unveiling ceremony.
